To busy to even shower..

Did you think I forgot about you? I didn’t, but it is funny that when I did think about typing an update on the Roppo Farm it was either mid-feeding or at 2am when I am so bleary-eyed I wouldn’t have made any sense anyways! So, here we are on the Farm: LOTS of new and exciting life changes have happened in the last month, and some of us are adjusting better than others. 🙂

Both E and M are home from the NICU! Yay! They are both eating well and gain weight like crazy, E is a big boy and is up to 6lbs 8oz at 6 weeks old (from 3lbs 8oz at birth.) M is lagging a little (and is currently battling Neonatal Diabetes, so be praying for that!) but is up from her itty bitty birth weight of 2lbs 9oz to 5lbs 3oz! They are still both sleeping a lot, and Joel and I have been lucky enough to be getting some sleep at night. My husband has been wonderful, and is taking to his new role of Daddy to twins with ease. We have had lots of doctors appointments in the last few weeks, and I have been very blessed to have very good friends here locally to help with the transporting and shuffling. Our little friends are beautiful and I have included a picture for you to “ooo” and “ahh” over. Please keep their health in your prayers as well as some big decisions that we will have to make on behalf of these little ones coming up for their future.

Colby seems to be adjusting pretty good, as well. He still likes to be in my lap as much as possible, but he seems to understand that most times I need to care for this little one or that little one, and has yet to step on anyone’s head while we are playing on the floor. He has been running with Joel after work, too, which seems to keep him pretty happy!

The chickens, however, seem to be the ones suffering the largest neglect. They don’t have their people waiting on them hand and foot and offering all sorts of fun treats. But I think they will survive. Our baby chickens are almost all grown now and are all integrated with the big chickens. And, biggest surprise of all… we have a rooster! Oops. We were gone for a weekend camping trip over Memorial day, and come back, and wait..? Joel, what is that cock- a -doodle- do noise? Suddenly our cute baby has the big comb and he is crowing all over the place. Technically we aren’t supposed to have a rooster where we live, but we might just wait it out a little longer and see how noisy and mean he really gets. (We might really regret this decision later..)

And, lastly, our beautiful garden! (Which probably isn’t as neglected as the chickens.) We now have beautiful lettuce several days a week for dinner and our sugar snap peas are delicious! Our other crops are far from ready, but it really is a beautiful sight and a wonderful gift to be able to grow and enjoy your own fruits and veggies, I highly recommend it!

June and I have had the opportunity to visit Roppo farm twice in the last few days. The babies are amazingly beautiful and looking quite healthy. Colby is the corner car patrol dog and the chickens are just hanging out. Oh, almost forgot about the cat who learned how to climb up on the roof, but didn’t have a plan how to get back down. Abbie and Joel came to the rescue and the kitty is safe to climb another day.
I am so proud of Abbie & Joel for having the courage and the love for taking on the BABIES E and M. It only takes about 30 seconds to fall in love with them. Makes a GRANDPA really proud!

    Sure love you! Dad
